MacProject II starts with the master project and goes down through all of the projects in the family, calculating the schedules. For a subproject’s date, it uses the Earliest Start from the supertask it is linked to (unless you have set a start date). MacProject II calculates the rest of the subproject’s schedule from that start date.
The changes ripple through the project family until the entire family is recalculated. The changes are stored only in the project that is open, however.

----- text -----
If you go to a subproject from a master project, the subproject’s dates are calculated from the supertask’s Earliest Start. If you open a subproject directly, the dates are calculated from the first working day in the Project Calendar (unless you have set a start date).
Although you can direct MacProject to use the supertask’s dates rather than the project dates, the dates will not be stored in the subproject document.
